Inspire'08 is a student-initiated project raising awareness and funds for The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund. The project is a Young ChangeMakers project, supported by the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports and the National Youth Council. It is also a project supported by the Citibank-YMCA Youth For Causes programme, organised by Citibank and the YMCA of Singapore, sponsored by the Citigroup Foundation and an event of the President’s Challenge. The Inspire project has been part of the Citibank-YMCA Youth For Causes programme since 2004. In its first year, the project raised $21,000 for Child @ Street 11, while Inspire ‘05 and Inspire '06 raised $31,500 and $100,000 respectively for the School Pocket Money Fund.

This year, Inspire '08 brings you the Inspire Run '08 which aims to raise funds and awareness for The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund. The Run also aims to promote a healthy lifestyle among the citizens of Singapore, especially our youth. Besides the Run, we will also be carrying out an attempt to break a Guinness World Record.

The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund was initiated in 2000 to heighten public awareness of the plight of children from low-income families. These children often did not have proper meals nor pocket money to sustain their day in school. The School Pocket Money Fund eases the financial burden of such parents in providing for their children's education.

The beneficiaries of Inspire 08 are school children whose lives will be improved simply by receiving a much-needed subsidy for their education.
